OVER-ENGINEERED, RARE & RIDICULOUS.
This may be the weirdest phone we've ever sold. It started out as an ordinary black model 500 rotary phone made in 1991 by ITT in Mississippi. Then Dynalec in Sodus, New York modified it for the U.S. Navy Sea Systems Command. The most obvious modification is an ultra-heavy-duty latching system that will keep the handset in the base even if the phone is inside a submarine that flips upside-down!
To use the phone, you (or a sailor) will have to press a big button to unlatch the handset.
And the phone itself will stay where it's supposed to be because there are three threaded fittings on the bottom that allow the phone to be securely attached to a horizontal surface.
You may not need a phone that will stay where you put it even if your desk turns upside-down -- but this is a great phone to talk about as well as talk with.
